Commsec Data and EOD Software

Hi all. This is my first posting after starting my SMSF and also a personal investment portfolio. I have been doing lots of reading everywhere including these forums.
If you are using EOD trading software can you use the data from comsec that you can down load? Why do people pay for other data feeds for EOD prices?

Commsec's EOD software is crap. It's very basic. Check out prorealtime.com if you want something better without having to pay.

The thread below provides a good explanation of Free Vs. Paid data. If you're using software for backtesting etc. then paid is the way to go, if you're using it just to check closing prices each day for a spreadsheet etc. then data from a broker/free source should suffice.
