Had some steers and heifers in the monthly cattle sale at Muchea on Friday. Did very well with our steers getting over $2k a head and the heifers coming in at over $1800 a head. For you red meat lovers who have to buy it start looking for fresh road kill !!!!!l ha ha These are prices we could only dream of 12 months ago, and appars as if the cents per kilo will keep going up. Maybe it is tied in with the Reserve Banks take on interest rate hikes ??????

I thought it would be due to world wide shortages caused by droughts in China, Europe, USA and parts of South America. China in particular would be sourcing from us.

I wonder if you are getting the best price? I read that wheat in Australia is not selling at full price due to influence of large players controlling the price to get greater margin though I expect cattle would be much harder to export.

Good morning Knobby22 Cattle prices here have been on the rise in the Monday trade sale for the past 6 weeks or so. Next Special Sale who knows might be up another 20 or 30 cents a kilo. Not interested in live export as we have Euro cross cattle which webreed for th domestic market. Argentina and Brazil are the mamoths of the cattle industry who we compete against, well the Northern breeders do

We had 13 young bulls in the local trade sale at Muchea yesterday.
The prices paid did not cover keeping them in the condition that they were in.
Over half were prime butcher's material.
Makes me wonder if the auctioneer was just looking after his mates and not the vendor.
