C Class, 3 Series or A4?

Re: C Class, 3 Series or A4

Had a 2000 build A4 1.8TQ that went really well, had problems with switchgear (common to most Audi/VW) and computer (replaced under warranty) only thing that needed maintenance in 5 years was tyres (lots, I drove it hard!) and one battery.

A good friend has owned 3 x E46 320 & 330Ci and does a LOT of driving, loves 'em, no significant problems.

No idea about C Class.

I don't like the newer A4 & 3 series, both are ugly.

Re: C Class, 3 Series or A4

I have leased all 3, currently I have an a4 would not buy one. Its not horrible but I have heard audi's are problamatic and this one is no exception. I loved the 3 series (325 xi) and also the c class. IMO the C class has a little more comfort to it and slightly less of a stiff feel every bump suspension. But dont get me wrong the c230 sedan is a great option for a little power and sportier suspension than the average mercedes.
Hope this helps

Hi Lancer, what problems are you having with the audi? is it the current model out, or the one before? The audi was at the top of my list. I feel the c class hasnt got that great of an interior compared to the other two, and the fact they are built in South Africa kinda turned me off.

What engine size in the audi have you got? just the 2.0L?

Re: C Class, 3 Series or A4

Had a mate with an A4, he loved it and has always said he would love to get another one.

I personally love my ride (06 mazda mx5) but if I had to choose one of the above i'd go the 3 series coupe  .

Cheers

BMW 3 series will give you the more sporty performance, acceleration & time of response is always better than C class imo.

I had both but i could be wrong because I had the 325i while in C class I had I had C200, so C class had smaller engine.

Overall, I prefered the 3 series of both of them.

On the other hand, If you want the actual fact & if you're paying money for a german car anyways, I would defenitely recommend you test drive the E class or the 5 series........TOTALLY DIFFERENT WORLD :D

There's no logical comparison in comfort or performance between the E class & C class, E class gives you a feeling that you're practically flying, C class imo is the 2nd worst mercedes after A class of course.

same with 5 series, engine is crazy but I found E class interior more appealing than 5 series.

I don't like Audi's as they depreciate like crazy, I've driven few before casually & even that they are considered in the luxury category I still think that aussie market is not ready for to pay for them if you want to resell in future.

cheers,

Hi Mb,

I have an 02 a4 quattro smaller engine but turbo. It has 60,000 miles (from united states) on it. Just replaced the water pump ($900) and right before the warranty was up had several little things go wrong, computer related but still if it was not under warranty would have been spendy to fix. I really do like the audi but dont want things going wrong with it. So I would buy a new or almost new one if I was going to.

,

Agree they are completely different from the entry levels. The new 5 is one of the best looking cars getting around at the moment. However not in my budget, looking at 50 max.
