Hi guys, I'm new here and want to find a broker that let's me trade UK shares using my UK bank account.

Background story: I'm an Aus resident but was working in London recently so I have a decent amount of pounds saved up over there. I don't want to convert these funds back into AUD because the pound is so weak against the AUD (~1.65), and it is currently earning 0% interest over there.

My guess is that the UK economy will recover over the next couple of years, so I would like to invest this money in shares/FTSE index and hopefully they will be worth more pounds and those pounds will be worth more AUD.

So basically I need a broker that:
- Let's me open an account as an AUS resident (not a UK resident)
- Let's me fund my trades using my UK bank account
- Let's me buy UK shares

The only possibility might be IB but I am not sure if I can fund directly from my UK account.

I have tried UK brokers such as Etrade/TD Waterhouse/Selftrade but you need to be a UK resident.

Does anyone know what my best option might be?

Hi Murphy,
I am new to Australia too and when googling came across your thread. Did you have any luck?

Thanks,
Fusela

Hey guys, it's been 18 months and unfortunately I still haven't done anything about this.

I'm sure there is something suitable out there. I suspect that Interactive Brokers might fit the bill, but was really hoping to hear some opinions from the experts here.

If anyone has something to share, please do!
