Came up as a Riser today …

Somebody stumped up $26K at the close of trade to buy it ..... I have no idea why!

They have about half a $million dollars in the bank ….

With only a $1 million Market Cap it could be an attractive Shell for some Chinese Company looking for a back door entry??

Smoke and Fire or Smoke and Mirrors … we will find out in good time I guess

Big share price spike on very high volume for BPH, starting on Friday last week but really taking off on Monday. On Friday it opened at 5c, and today it has hit a high of 13.5c.

In response to an ASX Price & Volume Query, the company offered the following explanation for the unusual trading in its securities:

According to a blurb, BPH Energy Ltd (BPH) is an Australian listed company holding investments in biotechnology and resources. BPH is commercialising a portfolio of Australian biomedical technologies emerging from collaborative research by leading universities, medical institutes and hospitals across Australia. The current investment of BPH consists of Molecular Discovery Systems, Cortical Dynamics, Advent Energy, HLS5 Project and Diagnostic Array Systems.

An O&G outfit Advent Energy is entangled with MEC, and in dispute with parties. Baleen mentioned (Bass St?) (marginal?)
And Cortical Dynamics Limited, which has entered into a nonexclusive Licence and Co-operation Agreement with Philips Healthcare North America Corp, which will enable Cortical to interface its Brain Anaesthesia Response Monitor . And some Korean distributor, Global Luck, to introduce BARM to the Korean market.

This stock has come to my attention purely due to recent price action but it all seems a bit confusing, and a few alarm bells ringing, to me.

A biotech company that also drills for offshore oil and gas? The merits of either industry aside, that's a rather odd combination to say the least.

Certainly a wild ride for those holding it over the past few days though, price doubling then crashing.
 
Well it looks like it’s game on again Smurf for BPH for the next ride to 30cents for BPH the Bell report is due in November for BPH and Pep11 outcomes which is huge for BPH and could bring BPH back to the fore, interesting times for BPH and BUY could be a completely different story by this time next month, things that dreams are made of could happen here DYOR.
 
The Federal Court has quashed the decision by former prime minister Scott Morrison to block the extension of the PEP-11 gas field licence off the NSW coast.

BPH subsidiary Asset Energy owns an 85 per cent interest in the permit and accused Morrison of “bias in the form of predetermination”, according to the judgement released on Tuesday.

The court found that “there is a proper basis to conclude that the decision was affected by apprehended bias”.

“The law’s concern about apprehended bias arises out of the general principle that judicial and administrative processes should not just be impartial, they must be seen to be impartial.”
 
Bounty Oil & Gas NL (ASX: BUY) and BPH Energy Limited (ASX: BPH) as the PEP 11 Joint Venture announce that judgment and reasons for decision in the Federal Court Proceedings (WAD106/2022) between Asset Energy Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of BPH’s investee, Advent Energy Limited) and the Respondents (being the Commonwealth Minister for Resources et al) are to be handed down by Justice Jackson at 9.15 Perth Time on 14 February 2022.

Bounty will request an ASX trading halt before trading opens on 14 February 2022 to allow time for filing of an ASX Release on the judgment and future action.
 
Now if BUY is trading, soon BPH will. .... has been 1.8c prior.

EDIT: BUY is back in a second trading halt. Also looking to open higher.

Not sure it's a gas field. Has it even been drilled?

There'll be opposition, because it's close to Nimbyland. Surfers (those low carbon footprint nomads floating around on resin and polyurethane) will preach sustainability. Mothers will bewail their childrens' inheritance .

... when i was working in geophysics in the '80s, AGL was drilling in the Sydney basin, at Picton, Tahmoor and Camden, looking at the coal seam gas potential of the Coal Measures that underlie the area (and which extend from Newcastle to Wollongong, and inland). The seams were deep, up to 1000m. A concerted campaign closed down the drilling "in peoples' backyards" .

And I remember the geologists drooling over the prospect of getting a rig to do a few holes offshore, as they thought it would be a real prospect, for gas.

BPH Energy (ASX:BPH) has announced it’s raising $1M through a 2cps placement to continue hydrocarbon exploration and the development of its Cortical MedTech.

Among the confirmed participants are a range of sophisticated investors, including family office proponents. Participants are also eligible for 1 attaching option for every 2 new shares valued at 3cps and exercisable in September this year.
 
PEP-11 offshore exploration permit application refused.

The gas drilling project proposed just off the NSW coast has been blocked by a joint federal and NSW state panel, with federal Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic citing public interest and doubts about the companies’ ability to fund the work.

“The Joint Authority refused the applications for reasons of public interest, concerns about the applicants’ estimate of the cost of works and their ability to raise the necessary capital to fund the proposed works,” the minister’s statement reads.

BPH Energy, the holding company for Asset Energy, halted its shares from trading ahead of the government’s announcement, as did Bounty Oil & Gas, a minority partner in the venture.

Asset Energy executive director David Breeze noted the company has legal rights to seek a review of the decision and has referred the issue to its lawyers.
 
There's already enough PPP's rolling up on east coast beaches currently anyway.
