I have an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my shares activities. Not that it's a lot but I can't seem to get a balance between what is on the spreadsheet and what is in the bank account.

I should be in profit but the bank balance shows that I'm just break-even. I've included open positions, closed positions and bank balance. This is driving me crazy at the moment!! :banghead:

Does anyone have a fairly simple and accurate spreadsheet that shows how much is available, open/closed positions - if you don't mind sharing? I've done a search but to no avail.

Brokerage?
Money in CMT?
SPPs?

Reason you cant find anything online is cause statement format varies so much...

and people don't know how to use vlookup()

Doesn't your broker statement have total P/L at the end to match ?

Vlookup() has nothing to do with it, unless you are using a standard comment to lookup certain prices, which is far too advanced for a simple cash book summary of a bank account.

Bank is only going to show closed trades so don't include open ones.

Do a simple bank rec:

- Starting bank a/c balance
- Add Capital Gain/(Loss) from Share Trading
- Closing balance per excel

- Closing balance per bank

If your bank account is only used for share trading, it should be very simple to balance.

Thought the problem was excel didn't match up with bank. And don't have brokerage statement, thus calculating P/L by excel.

Agree with checking open trades, but more likely than not a typo in excel is the problem ;)
