Best live rock/pop concert(s) you've seen

:jump: THE BEATLES :jump:

Row J Ringside, Sydney Stadium, 1964

:band:

Couldn't talk for 3 weeks afterwards.

Been a while since I've been to a concert.... 1990 I think.

Australian Crawl 4 x in Burnie, TAS from 1980 - 1983

Petra in Festival Hall, Brisbane in 1985 & 1986

Neil Young in Entertainment Centre, Brisbane in 1989

Midnight Oil in Entertainment Centre, Brisbane in 1990

Most memorable concert, ZZ Top backed by the Angels and Rose Tattoo at the Surfers Paradise Raceway, 1987. While the Angels were still playing, ZZ Top arrived in 2 helicopters behind the stage. Helicopters were flying in tandem, landing and taking off together, a great effect. Biggest stage set up I've ever seen. 50 4' x 3' speakers on each side of the stage, higher than a 2 story house. Apparently you could hear it 10 km away but the sound was so clear it didn't hurt your ears.

ZZ Top played 3 sets over 2 1/2 hours.

Been to a few more too including Don McLean, John English, Men at Work, and others I don't even remember.

I think the next will be the Wiggles, Hooley Dooleys or Hi 5 with my granddaughter! Winnie the Pooh was good a couple of years ago too.

Fear Factory - BDO 1997 and Palace 1999
Superheist and Henry's anger - evelyn
Rammstein - palace
Prodigy - BDO 1997
Cog, butterfly effect and from the inside - Espy
Detones and non-intentional lifeform - corner
Strapping young lad - corner

I agree completly with BSD, late 90's the prices for bands skyrocketed, and a lot of bands were saying they wouldn't come just because of the exchange rates and a lot less bands came for quite awhile.

Too many to choose from. (another misspent youth).

Dire Straits - Festival Hall '83
Easybeats - Festival Hall '83
Skyhooks - Festival Hall '83
Midnight Oil, The Angels, Men at Work (free concert) Myer Music Bowl '83
Midnight Oil - Astor Theatre '83
Midnight Oil - Melbourne Entertainment Centre '84?
INXS - Prospect Hill Hotel '83?
Hunters and Collectors - Central Club Hotel '83 (at least half a dozen times)
Eric Clapton - Hordern Pavillion '84
Joe Cocker Hordern Pavillion '84
Bruce Springsteen - Sydney Entertainment Centre '85
Dire Straits - Syd Ent Centre '86
Deep Purple (with George Harrison onstage for the encore) - Ent Centre '86
Genesis - Syd Ent Centre '86?
Jethro Tull - Syd Ent Centre '86?
Eric Clapton - Syd Ent Centre '86?
Neil Young - Syd Ent Centre '86?
Bob Dylan with Tom Petty - Syd Ent Centre '86?
Fleetwood Mac - Rod Laver Arena Melbourne - late 80's
Eric Clapton (Tommy Emmanuel as support) - Rod Laver Arena Melbourne '90's
Neil Young - Rod Laver Arena Melbourne '90's
Elton John and Billy Joel - MCG '98?
The Eagles - Rod Laver Arena Melbourne '04

plus several I've forgotten and heaps of pub gigs.

Best "show" (and showman) was Springsteen, best concert? I can't choose between Dire Straits, Clapton, Genesis, Jethro Tull or the Eagles.

Got Clapton tickets and Roger Waters tickets for Feb '07.

Rod.

Seeing Tool was awesome, although both Brant Bjork shows I've seen were brilliant.

Fear Factory a few years back at the Palace gets a nod, as does the Trio of Rollins Band/Mark of Cain/Warped in 01

Will nominate a bunch of Meredith MFs as best festivals been to, although teh Sunset Dirty Three set would be rivalled by seeing the Polyphonic Spree at BDO a couple of years back.

Datsuns at the forum was great, best local gigs I've seen would be the Warped "Seven nights of Sin" gig, Forte's gigs, and Legends of Motorsport at the Corner.

BSD!

Mispent youth.... in the 90's?

And you feel old now?

Man, it must have been a wild time. LOL

Let me just say that 'all nighters' now refer to deadlines for deals and watching overseas markets; completely different from the parties, clubs, bands and bright lights.

But really, the hours and boozing are still the same for many of us.

Age just brought more expensive tastes and a decent haircut!
