Another one for the music fans. What is the best pop/rock concert(s) you have ever seen? This may be revealing your age somewhat, but I'll start off, so don't be shy...

Sinead O'Connor (Torhout/Werchter - Belgium, 1982/1983?) - Tiny girl, big guitar and an incredible voice. Awesome charisma.

Butthole Surfers (Effenaar - Eindhoven, 1985?) - Absolutely wild, naked girls on stage and a drumset set on fire! (those were the days...)

"The Boss" aka Bruce Springsteen (Phoenix, 2002) - Now I know why they call him "The Boss" - 2.5 hours of rock and you want it to go on forever.

Haven't been to any for quite a long time, but David Bowie was good circa 1980. Tina Turner was good too, sometime later in the 80s.

Best concert overall (ie. not just pop/rock) would be harder to name. Stephane Grappelli was awesome, as was Eartha Kitt (despite being a grandma by then :D). Also liked Sky; John Williams solo (the Australian guitarist); and John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, and Paco DeLucia. Victor Borge was also great.

hi folks

A couple of years ago I saw Rammstein live in Berlin. That was just about the highlight of my life .
On the other hand I did see the Cardigans in concert at the Minsk airport in Belarus this Year . Tha concert started at 6 in the evening because young people are not allowed out after 11 at night .
Um I was allowed out late because I am in my forties and I try and behave myself :)

Green Day in Jakarta, Henry Rollins in Brisbane, and Neil Diamond (he still has the moves) in Brisbane.

Robbie William in Perth this December! - old stuff though. Since he buggered up the relationship with Guy Chambers the music has been very ordinary ...
 
The Prodigy. The Chemical Brothers. Peaches. Felix da Housecat. All at various big day outs. All pretty incredible.

Armin van Buuren was unreal at Summerdayze.

Ben Folds Five at Syndney Enmore Theatre, July 1998.

Recent Ben Folds with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sept 2006, was awesome as well!
 
Motley Crue - Adelaide December 2005. 100% massively good show. :D

AC/DC - Hobart 2000. Great show, pity about the freezing weather (it was outside at the TCA ground).

Green Day - Brisbane 2005. Good show but a pity they chose Simple Plan as support act - they sounded just a bit too much like the CD...

Others that come to mind are Offspring in Adelaide a couple of years ago. Only a smallish audience at the Showgrounds but that gets rid of all the non-fans. Turned into a pretty full on night afterwards too once we met a few locals and headed out on the town.

Also saw Kim Wilde in Melbourne once and she was pretty good. :)
 
TOTO live in Melbourne in May of this year. People talk about musical boundaries being pushed, well these guys are the most serious musos on the face of this planet that push musical boundaries like no other. For those that thought that TOTO died back in the 80's, go listen to their latest release "Falling In Between" at CD Universe and crank up the volume with track#1!!!! Awsome

Also got the chance to see Steve Lukather and Larry Carlton Live in Paris a few years back. Sensational!!!

The fall in the Aussie dollar in the late 90s saw the end of the tours of most good US bands.

I refuse to attend festivals now because I am too deaf too hear the soft PA's and hate paying heaps of dough to see a 30 minute set.

10 years ago the good bands at the festivals would do a 2hr set at the Roxy Midweek for 2,000 tightly packed punters in Fortitude Valley.

It used to cost $25 for international headlines and $12 for locals

Starting to feel very OLD!

I wish I had the opportunity to have seen a heap of the bands from the 70s and 80s live. Plenty of amazing stuff in small venues.

My uncle's stories of seeing INXS, ACDC, The Saints etc still bring a smile to his dial!
 
Bo Diddley Wagga Wagga, probably around 1978, was memorable, especially since it was very cold and the guy just kept going.

Well not a concert really but Ferry Corsten at Twisted Generation at Uni of Canberra

Mick Jagger said after the concert @ Knebworth ,that the Rolling Stones will never be the support band for 10cc. 10CC ripped the evening apart,and by the time Mc Jagger and the crew got their act together,the crowd just stood and watched. So 10cc that distant 1974? 76? geeeeee.
But I remember walking out from the Hope & Anchor when the bill was V2 ,it was so loud the scrumpy I was drinking was moving on the shelf! only latter did I find out it was some group called U2 and V2 was a spelling mistake!
But my near real favourite was Joe Zawinul syndicate I think that was 2001? favourite because I ended talking to Victor Bailey ,Pepe Zawinul ,Manolo Badrena in the dressing room.................but that really jazz................
Kurt Elling 4tet always pulls a good haymaker........aaaah Nina Simone @ Ronnie Scotts! oooops Jeff Beck when WIRED was issued..........too much talent seen to say one distinct concert really.....
