Actually it's a dumb name period!!!

Beneficial and wonderful slammed together in an unholy union :cautious:
What overpaid marketing genius thought that was a good idea?

Not to worry. Dow futures are up and gold is $1012 and I have nothing better to do than pick at miniscule thorns in my side.

As you were ;)

Well, I have to admit that I've bought Beneful Dog Food for years (it's a seriously good quality dog food) and have never once considered the derivation of the name.

Time must be hanging heavy for you, Bowman, huh!:)

The worst ones are the drug companies.

the new American ones for various mental illness are beauties, cant remember all the stupid names, but Abilify is one that makes you cringe

Ability to stupify? Scary stuff!

Mining companies should thinka little harder too. Golden Rim Resources? Sounds dirty, think i golden rimmed an ex when i was trolleyed once ;)

I was once told that there was a bottle of wine on the market years ago that went by the name of 'Rene Pogel'

Wasn't until some bright spark in whatever govt dept finally read the label backwards. Heard a few horses have got away with some pretty rude backwards names.

LOL Julia
I'm in my 50's and time always has it's bloody foot flat to the floor

However in my 20's I worked in advertising (bought my soul back in my early 30's) and occasionally I still wake up screaming.

I don't know what's in those dog food cans but the leap from 'Chum' to 'Beneful' is one that leaves me scratching my itch.
