ages ago as a 16 ? year old i was playing tennis , every day, way too long with some friends and one day i was running hard for a ball and then something broke in the lower back. i think we were doing much more exercise than the body could take back then. it must be a fairly common injury. from then on even just bending over to do a few dishes put me in a 'vulnerable' position, or carrying stuff also made me vulnerable. i've had it forever. any idea what the name could be? it must be fairly common so someone might know. problems later would be with lifting stuff and carrying stuff that other youth/people wouldn't have an issue with. years later i'd fix this by getting flexible (can touch toes) and learning how to move heavy objects safely and i'm doing quite well now. but it's still there and i'm curious what the name of the condition is. that way i can research it and see how it might effect me with exercises like the deadlift. i've been doing these (light weight) on the back yard during lock down with homemade concrete weights (can't buy it). they're fun when you know how to do them safely.

I have similar issues. In my case it's a broken spine spur that is floating around the top of the arse area.
Overdo things I get pain for days.
If I ease up once I feel it, it usually settles in a day or so.
I think I did it when around 10 years old, swinging on a tree branch, monkey style, then slipped and landed flat on my back...
The doctors say a broken spur is common and around 5% of the population have it.

Get it scanned as Peter has said.
Don't assume it's anything safe to leave alone, unless you love wheelchairs.
Good luck.

good advice everyone, and maybe it's one of these injuries. I should get a scan at some point.

had it for ages and a basic level of flexibility works wonders. i've been doing the touching toes stretch for years now. light stretching, not hard (that would wreck things even more). i suppose a little flexibility increases the range of movement before the anatomy gets strained

I feel for your back injury. it was an unfortunate and unlucky event that you experienced

I needed 2 MRIs in the past two months. These are usually pretty expensive, but SKG did them at no charge (at least to me) as that is their policy since COVID-19 became an issue. I don't know if SKG are nationwide (I'm in Perth), but I would think other radiology clinics are probably doing the same. So it might be a good time to get a referral.

those lumbar support things can work really well. i have a few, but even a 15$ kmart one works really well in a pc chair.
feels perfect right now.

i was reinjured (rather unlucky), and have been recovering for several weeks now. well on the mend now

my injury came as a surprise. i think that if I had used ice earlier on, i might have stopped it from getting as bad as it did. had no idea what was coming for me.
