Decided to go for a look.

Can I buy tickets at the gate ?

The web site has no answers on that.

Call the number for tickets and a 5 year old tells you how important you are and to choose from the 3000 options which she explains over the next 3 hours very slowly then they put you on indefinite hold.

No wonder there's road rage and every other sort of rage in the community, it never ends...............this ****.

Finally got through, yes you can buy tickets at the gate, why isn't that somewhere prominent on the web site ? because they just want to piss everyone off as much as possible.

Best to buy tickets before hand (Tiketek) as there are usually quite long lines to get in etc. If you have ordered before hand then I think you can just pick them up from the gate.

It's worth a look! We were down there last year, but it was a stinking hot 40 degree plus Melbourne day which was not especially comfortable - hopefully won't be that hot tomorrow!

Cheers,

Beej

Yeah thanks Beej, just waiting for a mate of mine to ring and we'll go in today, dont really want to see the race it's better on TV but I do want to see them in the flesh at practise, never been so just want to see them up close, I think crowds are down due the the GFC so may not be too bad, if I get any interesting pics I'll post them here.

cheers,

Well I went, as I was going to the inside of the track on the overpass, an F1 car went underneath. The overpass is enclosed like a tin can just steel encased, the noise was like an electric shock, almost had a stroke.

Left after practice, the speed was just incredible and built toward the end, truly amazing and well worth the $85.

Left via a spot where there were no trams running for some reason, ended up catching a cab, "Kew Junction please" Cu jucon ???????????" was the response from the driver.

  • He stunk
  • He couldn't speak or understand English
  • He had no idea where he was or any idea where anything else was.

We had to guide him the whole way.

This is just disgraceful, how do people like this get cab licenses ?????

Another example of our useless state Govt at work, asleep at the wheel.

What if an older person or interstate visitor got into this cab and didnt know how to get to the address they wanted to go to ?

I got a pretty good view of it from the window at work. The Roullete's were fantastic

i watched it on one HD at home as i am a sydney boi.. i went to melb a few years ago and saw kimi win it for ferrari .. was awsome.. glad was not there this year. we couldnt have performed much worse.

I thought it was amazing the way the KERS battery could be fully charged so quickly.

No wonder they were worried about it exploding. Well its not really a battery, its just a massive capacitor. The charge can only last about 4 seconds per lap.

Do you have SilverService taxis in Melbs?

You mean a taxi with a fancier name? It doesn't matter what you call 'em, they all suck. Call them what you want (Yellow Cabs, Silver Top, blah), they are all equally uselses.

"Can you take me to the Telstra Dome?", "Can direct? No no where is". Wtf.

I couldn't think of anything more boring, I'd prefer watching the grass grow or paint dry.

-Too loud, you can't even talk to anybody
-You can't see anything just these rockets going around, you don't even know who is winning unless you watch the tv screens...you can do that from home
-Nothing happens...the guy who starts on pole usually wins

Save your money, have a bbq at home invite friends over and watch it on tv if you really really must see it...it would still be very much cheaper.

Silver service are better but you cant get them off the street, but why the hell should you have to anyway ?, stupid system run by idiots and controlled by nobody.

yeah I usually watch it on teeve and you get a full and complete coverage, but I'd love to go down before we lose it and be that close to one of the pinnacle of mechanical engineering, the sounds, actually seeing what it looks like as one fly’s past, it'd be insane. It’s the atmosphere of the whole spectacle; the absolute hight of motorsport. Couldn’t give a damn for the V8 Taxi series, but F1 would be something else to experience, if only you could take one for a spin

thats a shame, I only use silver service or = quality in Sydney. I find they know where they're going or they have GPS to get them there and if I have to tell them where to go or what street to turn down, I only have to do it once and then I get there.
You're right Taxis are a joke, and it quite ridiculous that there needs to be a particular company that can almost get it right.
I find it frustrating that I have to wait for a SilverService at times, but its so much better than getting into the norm. Looking forward to the day where I just have a driver
