G'day All!

I've spent most of my trading career in the U.S. trading U.S. markets. If anyone else is in the same dinghy and has a subscription or has seen Investors Business Daily Graphs, you realise how invaluable a tool it is for breaking down the market in to particular industries/sectors to focus on.

First and foremost, I trade on the principle of trending with the market, then trending with a corresponding industry/sector etc. before focussing on a couple of equities that I find have a familiar trend direction that I expect ;) ..... Most of the time....

IBD in the U.S. allows you to summarise all of the above and pick your industry/sector digitally to nail down 10 - 20 stocks worth immediately looking at. What I'm saying is - I want to speed things up on the ASX and was wondering if there is something of equivalent nature.

P.S. I use Etrade (girlfriends account) with IBD as a research tool. Very limited but will search other posts for an idea for other charting software. Any help would be appreciated. I'm more than happy to share ideas once I get my feet, so if there is a need for clarification let me know.

Cheers,

Re: Aussie Charting Software

Thanks for your reply Matt.

Yeah pretty much. However, I will stress that I'm after a stock screener that allows me to select stocks worth viewing immediately after I pitt an industry and sector against eachother.

I've been looking at Incredible Charts Pro and am satisfied at finding a very basic coloured charting system but miss the ability to select an industry and sector to find out relative RS or previous six month gain/loss etc.....

I hope this clears it up a little for you. (From Investors dot com)

Re: Aussie Charting Software

yeh I was going to suggest have a go at incredible charts but you have already done that.

I dont think Australia is that advanced when it comes to the detail you want. Alot more free software choices in the US I would imagine..

I know you could probably get all that info you want if you are willing to pay for it. I think paritech has a market scan software product that could possibly include what your looking for... but I wouldnt know seems I havnt used it.

Re: Aussie Charting Software

Thanks to both of you.

I'll still keep pumping along with Incredible Charts for now but Paritech (MarketScan) looks to be pretty close for what I'm looking for. I don't mind paying for a service if it's going to save me hours of research time a day.

I've also ordered a trial copy of the bullcharts and see how that goes.

As for Incredible Charts, I'm sure once I familiarise myself it will prove to be invaluable.

Thanks again.

Eljet,

Do yout think it's possible for yourself to write a brief review on here about your thoughts on bullcharts and then trial you are going to explore? Be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
