What the hell do they think is going to happen in an extra 2 hours that doesn't happen now? The only ones that I see gaining from this are the Arb bots. Why would you make the worlds most boring market even longer? Making it one of the longest trading days in any equity market!

The Australian Securities Exchange says it may extend its trading hours and ease restrictions for small resources companies in a bid to attract Asian investors and capitalise on Australia's strong resources sector.
The trading hours proposal would extend bourse trading to 6pm AEDT, instead of 4pm at present, the Australian Financial Review reported, bringing Australian trading hours in line with their Asian counterparts.

Hopefully they would delay the opening by 2 hours as well. Would be very handy for those mornings where I drank too much the night before.

I hope they don't do it. In fact I wouldn't mind a lunch break. Opening/closing auctions are great opportunities for entry/exit in equities so a few more of those wouldn't go astray.

Don't think brokers will be too happy.

A few of my friends working in equities also trade the US markets in the morning and are up before 5am.

They finish work at 4pm.. after trading Aus markets. Wonder what will happen now..
