Taught by her father Orazio, raped by his best friend, married off and finally acknowledged by the English. Her work is beautiful and not well known the aggression she takes in some paintings is reflective of what she was going through.Not all past paintings are the same. They might seem the same on appearance though when you study pigment development, canvas, brushes, supportive mediums each artist is unique.The Gentileschi's were linked to Caravaggio (he was a homosexual a common enough social acceptance at the time).
