hi all,it's hard, but it can be done.i have a few friends that are artists, and one i'm thinking of in particular is an "unknown" and has no trouble exhibiting her work and she sells too. another guy i know does likewise. it helps to be an art teacher as well.it's mostly the quick art, the art that shocks and confronts - even if it's not terribly well executed - that garners the attention. as a "struggling artist" myself, i've long since given up the dream of making a living from my art and being the pragmatist, am learning the ropes as an eod trader.
