Big question, big problems, big warning signs.
I thought in Perth, the intergration of all nationalities has been achieved really well. The local shops have a cross section of owners from all backgrounds.
However recently it seems there is a lot of gang attacks on people, by groups of marouding black africans. Is this a Perth phenomenon or is it happening elsewhere?
I have a bit of a problem understanding the cause, why run amuck here when that is what they were fleeing from.
Maybe the government needs to address this problem.

I live in the Philippines and last week end I shifted as I was taking goods etc out to the truck the locals were helping themselves to my things I think I lost about $300 worth, some thing's that are no use to them.

As far as I am concerned it is all in their DNA and can't be changed by putting them in with Westerners.
Here if a local steals some thing from you they can't understand why you get upset as if you are a foreigner how dare you complain.

Look at religion you can never put Christians in with Muslin's as they think differently racist no ...just being real
 
I understand where you are coming from, but I think it is different here in Aust.
There are plenty of opportunities here in Perth, I can't understand why they would be trying to alienate themselves.
 
Here its church on Sunday scam on Monday all live by the 8 commandments forgetting about tho shalt not steal or lie in country with the world biggest catholic followers.

Got two words GET OUT find some where else quite in the county side.

I suppose where I am coming from is a mate of mine married a Thai, she brought over her two children recently, both lovely kids.
Her daughter is 15 and son 19, the son has very little English language. However after 3 months he has a job and is trying really hard to intergrate as quickly as possible. He sees Australia as a golden opportunity to improve his situation and is grabbing it with both hands.
I wonder where the breakdown is, that these African gangs aren't seeing the same opportunity.
 
True some can see the potential to work and achieve, here there are houses with bare dirt no one grows any thing why I don't know why assume the cost of water or to much trouble or easier to go to the markets and buy.

Immigration laws need to be changed at present any one trying to get into OZ gets all the legal help they need, no one is allowed to talk to the department about issues due to privacy laws.

All should be on probation for a few years. look at clerics soap boxing and how they are allowed to bite the hand that feeds them.
Don't worry nothing will change until it is to late some countries can see assimilation is a failure like mixing oil and water.
 
It will be a shame for these people if they come half way around the world to make a better life and don't take the opportunity.
It will place added strain on the system and will eventualy cause the immigration rules to be tightened making it more difficult for genuine refugees.
Anyway hopefully it is only a passing phase that doesn't escalate.
 
The truth is if people have different interests, languages and especially restrictive religious beliefs then they won't integrate.
 
Melbourne is known as "the great melting pot" of all different races, cultures and religions from around the world. But there's no melting going on that I can see. Whites mix almost exclusively with whites, asians with asians, indians with indians, africans with africans, arabs with arabs.... and so on. Everywhere you look people are moving in like groups. So in that sense, multi-culturalism actually fosters division.

Real integration would require people to drop their cultural baggage, customs and beliefs (not just newcomers, but everyone). And since very few are willing to do this, we end up with enclaves and more division. The other possibility is to demand newcomers adopt an Australian way of life, which is not workable.

Who wants to be the first to disown their heritage? Step forward. I truly believe it would be a great thing. Pride in ones heritage is just the ego talking. You see? No one wants to do this.
 
I would say it is the grandchildren of an immigrant that are assimilated.

I know many adults born in Perth who will tell you they are "insert parents post WW2 country of origin" when they may not even have been to their parents country of birth.

Their children do not speak the grandparents native tongue and other than being mildly aware they have a heritage would not know they are anything but Australian.

This process only takes 50-60 years, nothing to worry about

I am curious, if it is so bad living there why are you still there? You can always come back to good old Australia.

There is a huge difference between the post-WWii refugees, who came to Australia with the will to integrate and work for their new future, and the new arrivals, for whom the welcome mats are rolled out without any expectation they work for a living.
50 years ago, some unions were rather upset that the new arrivals would "take away their jobs." And to some extent, they were exposed to competition as most of the early refugees were keen to take any job offered to them, and employers found themselves vindicated for giving them a fair go.

Read statistics of new arrivals, and you'll find that a huge number will still be drawing the dole after 5 years or more. They're too busy getting to know the loop holes how to milk the system, and when the parents don't set the example, where do the kids learn it?
Result: Bored youths, banding together, running riot and bashing civilians that look different to them - just for fun. But try and identify the thugs by their origins, even - Heaven forbid! - demand they'll be given the choice "Integrate and accept Australian Laws, or Leave", and you end up being accused of racism.

The inmates are running the asylum.

I have a 2 b/room unit for $40PM walk to every thing. Putting in a split air con which is a 50G fine in OZ and finding out what it is like to live in a 3rd world country so if I ever go back it will be the same as here.
I do know now if they have black hair they will scam you or try.
Bottle of gin and coke is $1.60.
And I was just expressing my views on Asian people in general.

There is something like 30 country's in Africa...where are the people from that your talking about?

Sydney has by far the largest African community in Aust, mostly Sudanese, Ghanaian, Liberian and Sierra Leonean...the Sudanese have had some issues adjusting the others in general have not.

There are no "marouding gangs" of Africans in Sydney.
 

I wouldn't have a clue what part of Africa they come from, just saw the footage on the news and it was a bit disturbing. But it is good to know it is probably an isolated incident and isn't indicative of a trend.
Like you pointed out Sydney doesn't have a problem, yet has a large African population. That is good to know.

I have spent quite a bit of my time living in a few Asian Countries and have quite enjoyed it. In Australia I have many Asian friends, mostly married to Aussie guys and they have assimilated very well. One in particular, a Philippino is a long time family friend of about 20 years, she has black hair and 2 lovely kids. She has never ripped off anyone in her life, there's good and bad in all races. Sure in the Philippines some might have a go at scamming but remember they aren't getting $400 p/w on a Government pension either, they get nothing, you know that. How would you survive if you got nothing, what would you do?
 
Oh dear.

50 or 60 years ago some Aussies were scared of the people that they called wogs or dagos or spags. They formed their own clubs too, mainly based around some silly game called soccer. They used to sing at work, dip their bread in oil and just refused to assimilate!! It was always fair to hang poo on them because of this.

In the 70's some people from Asia arrived. Some Aussies were scared, because they were arriving by the boatload! And they looked so different! There's no way that they could ever be Australians. They were going to take over!! It was always fair to hang poo on them because of this.

Between then and now some Aussies were scared of all of those troublemaking Lebs that were coming here. They formed gangs they did, (like lots of Aussie kids) and thought they were so tough driving their cars that were fully shick. We can't have that! It was always fair to hang poo on them because of this.

Next were the Indians. Some Aussies were scared of them, because all they do is complain and they have taken over and they smell and they don't know how to assimilate and so many of them have become highly paid engineering or medical professionals and it was always fair to hang poo on them because of this.

Recently, some Aussies have been scared by arrivals from parts of northern Africa. Because they look so different, there is no possible way that they should be welcomed! It is so abhorrent that some of them have even got jobs here as doctors!!!! It is always fair to hang poo on them because of this.

Grow up.

PS You know what ethnic group we should be scared of the most? Those weirdos that came from that cold country north of England. The menfolk there wear skirts!!!!!!!!!!!! As such, they are all derangesd sex predators if not gay, and if they ever arrive in this country, it will be the end of civilistation as we know it!
 

Great post Eager! Be careful some of those skirt wearing people have black hair too, now that's something to really worry about.
