Anyone care to offer an opinion/explanation on why the AORDs have dropped recently?

I'd say a combination of post dividend selling and the RBA's announcement last week. Interest rates potentially on the way up hurts the banks directly, tightens the bottom lines of many companies and increases the attractiveness of interest baring deposits over holding securities.
