AOC mocks Trump for writing off $70K in hair styling on taxes — after she was ridiculed for $250 haircut

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is mocking President Trump over reports that he sought to deduct from his taxes $70,000 in hair-styling expenses, noting that his supporters raged at her for spending $250 on a birthday hair-do.

“Where’s the criticism of their idol spending $70k on hairstyling?” AOC tweeted. “Oh, it’s nowhere because they’re spineless, misogynistic hypocrites? Got it.”

Can we roll some of these threads into a "US politics" or an "I hate Trump" thread or something?

This thread is the one that made me ban all new threads in General Chat.

Every time I see a new politics thread I almost want to throw up. Somehow a very small group of people have managed to turn a topic that used to be interesting into a gut churning, vomit inducing endurance test. Almost every political thread these days is like Groundhog Day; same crap, different thread. Seen one, and you've seen 'em all.

That's disappointing..

Perhaps the problem lies with the issues that are being raised in the threads ? The question of Donald Trumps suitability as President of the most powerful and influential country in the world is not small potatoes. The detailed revelation that Trump pays minimal taxes, is in dispute with the IRS over a $72 m tax bill, owes unknown organisations $420m in personal loans that become payable in the next few years is extremely concerning. Maybe this reality is what is gut churning and vomit inducing ?

The rise of AOC in the Democratic Party was stunning. She created a grass roots campaign to get nominated as Democratric candidate and beat a 20 year Democratic Congressman in a completely unexpected outcome. This was grassroots democracy vs big business politics. I thought some posters might be interested in learning more about her.

I chose to highlight the hair issue because it highlighted some of the most egregious elements of the breathtakingly hypocritical political attacks on AOC.

As noted when she decided to give herself a good looking hair cut ( for $250) as a birthday special AOC got trashed and trashed and mocked by Republician politicians and the right wing media. Absolute pile on.

And now we discover that Trump claimed $70,000 of tax deductible hair care as part of his Creative Tax returns ? Indeed. What a surprise. And of course absolutely no surprise that the reams of politicians who trashed AOC are zip lipped about this comparision.

And absolutely no surprise that AOC has the courage to put her head above the parapet and call out their behaviour for what it is.

Oh dear God bas. Trump is a shtbag. But you don't need 50 threads to say it in.
Trump is currently fighting the US tax office. If its found to be illegal so be it. But if its not then he is within the rules. Biden also has questionable payroll tax using S corporations. The same avoidance scheme Obama tried to close. And let's not start on the source of his family wealth.

Trump also donates his entire President pay check every month. Biden donates less than 2% of his.

So the problem with your posts is they are like numerous political adverts. You only need one thread, but you spread this crap all over the site.

Few points in response

1) There are many different aspects of what makes Trump such a clear and present danger to the US political system and the world as a whole. And IMV there are also other legitimate topics we could have a thread on. I think AOC as a rising politician fits that place

2) Your defense of Trump IMV represents some of diversions worth calling out. For example you choose to say Trump donates all his pay check. Indeed he does. And this was part of his schictk showing how wealthy he is and wasn't doing the job for the money.
And yet his whole Presidential career has been based on exploiting the office of President to enrich his local and international businesses to the tune of many millions of dollars !! Completely and utterly corrupt behaviour. But seemingly not in the excuse book of his supporters.

These are not political ads. Calling the outing of Trumps withheld Tax returns which reveal just however reckless and dishonest he is, is not crap or a political ad.

And if you actually believed Trump was a xhitbag as you say you wouldn't be repeating a load of diversionary talking points that effectively deny how bad the situation is.

You mean like biden enriched his entire family. The problem with you is you only see one side of the story and endlessly repeat it like some kind of mental illness has taken a hold.

Fact: Trump gives up his entire pay to charity.
Biden under 2%.


There has to be a counter point to your endless dribble. Its how all these lies end up as being thought of as truths.

AOC is a political lightweight. Not even her own party takes her seriously.
