Hi Everyone,

While I am learning trading I am buying lots of books to read but since I hate giving up my precious capital to buy books I'm looking for a cheap way to get them. At $40 a go Guppy's books are expensive so I was wondering if anyone had any books they don't want any more that they could sell to me?

Ones I'm interested in the moment are:
Van Tharp - Trade Your Way to Financial Freedom
Daryl Guppy - Better Trading

Plus any of the other books recommended by the experts on this board like tech/a, RichKid and Joe Blow.

Anyway let me know. I'm not sure if this is against the rules? I know you would want to discourage commercial things from on the board but I figure since this is educational you might forgive me!

Hi Ctp,
Not sure if you've had time to browse through or search some of the older threads but if you go through the trading tips and beginners forums (use a search word like 'books' 'van tharp' 'trade your way...' etc) you will find some discussion about utilising your local library and info on websites.

As for Van Tharp- there is a pdf format copy of his book mentioned on asf- let's see how good you are at using the search tool! If you don't find it in the next two days let me know and I'll show you the post on asf which has the link. So you've saved some money already!

If you speak to your accountant you may even be able to claim the cost of trading books as a deduction. I think $40 is cheap for a valuable trading book but ebay (as you suggested elsewhere) may be a better bet for a lower price.

Not sure what the policy on private buying and selling is on asf but Joe will clarify it if it becomes an issue.

Good luck!

PS I'm not an expert yet so take what I say with a grain of salt and be very careful of all views.

Thanks guys! Looks like I need to do a lot more searching and reading before I go posting threads asking for help! So much gold buried in this forum I really just need to read all the posts one by one.

That eBook is awesome though I'm going to see how good this laser printer of mine really is!

Trish Radge of Reefcap sells secondhand books on trading only.

They are often updated as their book scource is pretty vast.
I'm about to clean out my own library and trish is buying them---(sorry I promised)

Just search Reefcap and go to secondhand books Ive bought a few and they are fine---1/2 retail.

I have quite a few books I could part with:

from guppy:

"THE DAYTRADERS ADVANTAGE"
"SHARE TRADING"
"TRADING TACTICS"
"CHART TRADING"

"OPTIONS - TRADING STRATEGIES THAT WORK" William Eng

"TRADING STOCK OPTIONS AND WARRANTS" Chris Temby

"THE ART OF TRADING" Chris Tate

"SECRETS FROM PROFITING IN BULL & BEAR MARKETS" Stan Weinstein

"TRADING FOR A LIVING" Dr Alexander Elder

"INVESTMENTS" 4TH EDITION Reilly, Norton

"DUMB MONEY" Anuff, Wolf

Will sell as a whole, less than half retail value. $570 retail. $250 be quick.

Nice collection money tree.

Not familiar with "Investments" or Dumb money", but the others alone would be an excellent nucleus of a traders library.
