I know all that. My point is that if Newman fails to win Ashgrove but the LNP wins the election, we have no idea who is going to be Premier!!
That is hardly a satisfactory state of affairs is it? I think they could lose votes on the basis of such a shoddy non-answer.
I doubt I'd be the only voter who would find that a completely unsatisfactory response.Tim Nicholl was on the news tonight. First time I have seen him there.
I think he was queried by media on your exact comment.
His answer was along the lines, "that nothing is clear cut in politics."

This is the case with every election, state or federal. There is no guarantee that the leader of the party that wins will themselves win their seat.
I'm genuinely perplexed that people no longer seem to understand the Westminster parliamentary system. It's the best system of democracy in the world.
Exactly. In the 2007 federal election no one was hassling John Howard on who would be the leader if he lost.
It seems that another state LNP candidate is under a cloud for starting a pr0n site.
Apologies for my ignorance, tinhat. This is the case with every election, state or federal. There is no guarantee that the leader of the party that wins will themselves win their seat.

Her are some more odds by Centre Bet Newman V Jones.

CAMPBELL Newman is set to lose in his bid to win the seat of Ashgrove - plunging Queensland politics into unprecedented territory.
An exclusive Galaxy Poll conducted for The Courier-Mail reveals Labor incumbent Kate Jones has broken away from Mr Newman in the must-win seat just two weeks out from the election.
She now has a three point lead in the two-party preferred race.
The most likely result is that the LNP will claim an overwhelming win yet their leader won't join them in the new Parliament.
That poses serious questions for the state and sets the scene for a fascinating run to March 24.
Responding to the poll on Saturday morning, Mr Newman would not say who he wanted to replace him as leader should he fail to win a seat, saying it would not be up to him.
According to the Galaxy Poll of 800 voters in the Ashgrove electorate, Mr Newman and Ms Jones are neck-and-neck on primary support at 45 per cent each.
Ms Jones is most popular among female voters while Mr Newman is predominantly supported by men.
Based on the distribution of preferences at the last election, Ms Jones would win on a two-party preferred basis 51.5 per cent to 48.5 per cent.

I wouldn't care if a blind monkey was the leader of the LNP. It's still better then a Labour govt.

I WOULD PREFER TO TAKE MY CHANCE WITH THE LUCKY DIP THAN THE DIP STICKS WE HAVE NOW.
Yes, exactly what I've been thinking as I've seen all the mud thrown at Newman and his wife. Not a word, afaik, has been spoken about Mr Withers' sinecure. It beats the hell out of me why someone from the LNP have not mentioned the cosy job her husband, what's his name, I think it is Greg Withers.
He is departmental head of the state government climate change.
I think his salary is around $185,000. I wonder how he got that job without some of Anna's influence.

Correction on Greg Withers salary. Make that $220,000. The department he now heads was created by Anna Bligh a month after she became Premier.

(My bolds)Mr Newman said DERM (Department of Environment and Resource Management) would come under a powerful spotlight and be swiftly re-engineered if he won government.
"It's a department without true leadership, a department that is more about ideology than science," he said. "It's more about politics than outcomes."
He also singled out Ms Bligh's husband, Greg Withers, assistant director-general in the Office of Climate Change in DERM, for special mention.
"Let's face it, when you have a climate change policy in Queensland decided by the Premier's husband, not science, then you know there's a problem," Mr Newman said.
Environment Minister Vicky Darling hit back immediately, saying Mr Newman was showing his true colours.
"Campbell Newman's promise to wreck one of the state's most important regulators should send shivers down the spine of any Queenslander who values the protection of our precious environment and natural resources," she said.
With more than 5600 public servants, DERM is now one of Australia's largest bureaucracies, dwarfing even the number of federal public servants assigned to green schemes (2254).
