The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute (about 15 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals for free'.
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

I used to respect the RSPCA but now to me there just another greeny group who cares more about their own agenda then actually whats going on in this world.

The animals dont care who feeds them but they do need feeding

I agree wholeheartedly with this comment.
My wife is the worlds greatest animal lover and our home is like a zoo.
Having spare time on her hands she worked as a volunteer with the RSPCA.

After 6 mths she couldn't handle it any more.
Basically she found that a dog or cat sent to the RSPCA had in fact been in a vast majority of cases sentenced to death! Their care of animals in their facility was and as far as I know still is appalling.
Their treatment of staff and in particular those who give their time freely is just plain inept.
Make a noise as precious did and wow life gets impossible. So she left.

We do not support RSPCA---wont ever and if I find a stray wont ever give it a death sentence!

I believe the Animal welfare league is different but don't know first hand.
The RSPCA needs a bomb under it.Particularly for the handful of people who are passionate about their care for animals but chased out by people with different agenda's.
Let alone the poor animals who really DONT have a safe refuge!

Another quick story.
A friend lost their 8 yr old boarder collie.
Rang RSPCA 3 times describing in detail the dog.
Each time---not here was the reply.
Wife insisted in the end that our friend personally go to the pound and have a look as she knew how slack these people are.
Sure enough there he was 2 days from an injection!!!!!!!

AND he WAS CHIPPED!!!!!

What on earth are they supposed to do with all these Animals then ? cant set em loose or they will decimate native wild life and probably attack people cant keep them because people like you wont give them any money ......

Maybe they could all be exported to Hong Kong ?

Maybe its just Adelaide/SA RSPCA that is pathetic as you say Tech ? Ive heard many SA organisations are sub standard.They rock up here, awesome people, great job and well respected.

Ive never been to your RSPCA perhaps it is pathetic like Techs one I couldnt say unless I visited.

Another way to help the animals. If you're getting a dog or cat then go and get one from the pound that's otherwise headed for lethal injection rather than paying a fortune to some breeder / pet shop.

Why keep breeding them when there are already so many unwanted dogs and cats?

My family has always had a cat and/or dog and they've always been recycled animals. Never had any real problem with them despite their generally poor background of abuse etc. One cat was so small he went to sleep in his food bowl once - now he's bigger than average and doing fine.

The dog was a bit harder since he had been belted in the past (visible scars under the hair and an incredible fear of belts, straps etc). He never totally got over the fear of belts / straps etc and did have some lasting physical injuries (nerve / spine damage) which meant his legs didn't always work properly. That didn't stop him going on 35km walks in the bush though (I'm the one who got tired...) and overall he lived a normal life.

Sadly he is no more, but I'm happy to say that the last 13 years of his life were a lot happier than the first 3 (age as estimated by the vet). For me, rehabilitation of that dog would have to be the most emotionally satisfying thing I've ever done.
 
Yes could well be SA based problem.

Rot starts at the top,Adelaide's RSPCA needs good management---simply doesn't have it.
I'm sure there are good organisations around,but agree with de sexing,chipping your animals and taking care of them.

Think2wice before becoming an animal owner---its a commitment.
Think 3 times before giving one away as a gift! It may not be wanted.
They all grow up and go from cute to brute.

Great story, Smurf. Goodonya. I'll never get how some people can hurt animals.
Walking on the beach one day I came across a big bloke carrying a length of rope. He asked if we'd seen a dog and gave description. Said no.
"Well," he said, "the dumb bastard got out somehow. When I find him, and find him I will, he's gunna get the belting of his life and then be chained up on a real short chain".

I felt sick. Said "I hope he's gone a long way away and that you never find him. You don't ***** deserve to have a dog".


Couldn't stop thinking about that poor dog.

Spot on my friend!

We recently adopted our second dog from the RSPCA pound in Burwood (Vic) and she has been fantastic. It is highly rewarding to give a dog another change at a happy life and indeed why pay money to breeders when there are plenty of suitable dogs in the pound already.

RSPCA staff at Burwood were top notch and the facilities were clean. However there were hundreds of dogs and cats on-site and the current adverse economic times means that the volume has exploded.

I also get our new dog trained at the lost dogs home in North Melbourne. Great organisation.

A pet is definitely for life and a lot of work. Please only get one if you have the time or money. Also do not use 'pet farms' that breed pups for profit - adopt a pooch or moggy
