I'm interested in how many on this forum trade the ways listed
There are so many on ASF I'm sure this will give a reasonable
Cross section.

Sorry, Tech/A can't help either. I'm not trading atm, but when I did much of the information I used were option based and not the regular technicals that you would probably have in your mind.

Fine Sails I'm aware there are others

I like to think of myself as a long term investor, but there is only one 'invest' option there and it is attached to "do little analysis". I do research before buying, so not sure what my options are, but I chose that and the 'trading fundamentally' one.

strange - I could swear that I read a comment about the poll being open and the names of respondents would be shown under each option. After I've replied, that is no longer the case.

Wouldnt mind a few more poll results
23 from 30000 members is a bit lame!

Thanks to those who have voted.

What are your reasons for conducting this survey aside from general interest?

I spend a fair amount of time posting technical stuff and stick my nose in some fundamental threads---just interested what the spread is of those who do trade.

I have a suspicion that a great majority on the forum dont trade at all--or post--for fear of embarrasing themselves.

For me it will influence where I bob up and what I'll post in future.

Mkt profile rocks!

Love it.

Tech, please note that in stock threads both FA and TA is welcome. Providing there is analysis, the more posts in stock threads, the better

Maybe consider that some of us are standing aside from this market in cash, hence not really able to provide a valid response at present.

I have an idea for a sub-forum on ASF.

To be able to log-in and read posts, you have to instruct your broker send a copy of every one of your trades (as they happen) to ASF. Next to your name, ASF displays the following:

- number of trades in past 12 months
- number profitable
- ave gain
- ave loss
- net profit/loss

Could this work? I guess it comes down to the broker. Probably a big ask.

Even if you aren't winning, you can get on board the trades of those who are.

Ok
But when you or anyone else IS in the market---what analysis?

TECH, a lot of people read/follow a lot of the threads on ASF and get a lot of much needed help and guidance from them. Speaking just for myself, I dont post much for a number of reasons, mainly because I am not any kind of expert so dont consider my opinions of any great value to the forum. I think a lot of others are in the same boat as myself and as a result of us sitting on the side, the regular posters who do make valuable contributions dont get much or any feedback on their good work. This doesnt mean the posts are not appreciated!!!!! I guess us more shy members should post more!
