There are only two topics in the news over here, MJ (still!!) and the current "heatwave". There are all sorts of items on TV, from health warnings, implorations to drink water, begging bosses to let their workers dress down etc etc etc etc etc.

Of course, as someone who used to work in front of a furnace and hang hot steel off of horses feet in >40 degree heat all day, an English Heatwave is totally laughable.

Temps are circa 30 - 31 degrees LOL.
 
LOL I wish I was in weather that cold! It's been mid 40's for the last month where I am! :evilburn:

Ditto for Holland. Everyone is moaning and sweating over here... I'm loving it. Give me 2 month months of weather like this and I might just survive next winter.
 
Every day the headline is 'London hotter than Bangkok/Singapore/Greek Isles/Rome/Timbuktu'.

The weather isn't bothering me, but the commute is a nightmare. Jammed on the tube for 45mins with someone's sweaty armpit in my face and the temp pushing 40-45 inside the carriage...

The one thing that did surprise me about english summers is just how humid they are...

About 20 years ago I flew from Perth to Dublin in July. The Perth temperature was a nice 23 degrees. Warm for winter, but not out of the ordinary.

When I arrived in Dublin, the headline in their national paper, The Irish Times, was:

Hundreds faint as temperature soars to 24 degrees.

Admittedly few have air conditioning and it tends to be comparatively humid there.
 
Does that mean the Poms will have to shower more than once a week in that nice weather, I'm at Hong Kong at the moment nice but overcast about 30C 95%RH.
