AmiBroker (trial license) importing data - problem

Hi

My first post. I am wanting to trial AmiBroker (v5.30.1), so about a week or two ago I downloaded the software and installed the trial.

I also downloaded the EOD data from float.com.au These are all resources I have found from reading here.

I've followed the instructions as per:

But I cannot get any data to import. The ticker symbols import but the chart screen just shows the error message "not enough data". Is the data import feature disabled under the trial license? If so, I am very annoyed at wasting all this time and effort. I just want to trial the software! Argh.

I never trialled so I don't know if the in-built Yahoo down-loader works on the trial version.

You could try by following the database setup procedure. Sorry, but you will have to do some reading on how to set up the databases. In Amibroker click "Help" and type "Amiquote" in the search box. There are the instructions to follow. You will need to create a data base and I have attached the set up procedure in PDF as well as a list of Aussie stocks with suffixes to help you get started.

Again, I didn't trial so I don't know the range of functions with the Trial Version.

Thanks for the reply and thanks for providing the information you attached. Sorry I've been rude and not replied earlier. I am paper trading at the moment using incrediblecharts and doing an enormous amount of reading. Up until now I've just been an investor hitching a long distance ride (mainly down these past two years) on ASX stocks. I'm going to put aside an afternoon to revisit AmiBroker after this weekend. I am not familiar with the data source you mention. But I have written a description of the step-by-step process of setting up AmiBroker and establishing databases. One of the databases described is the free end of day data from Yahoo.

Thanks Howard and Wysiwyg. I've got the yahoo feed working and managed to import historical data.

Do either of you know what stock codes I need to use to be able to access indices data from the Yahoo feed. I would like to have the standard S&P indices:
