Burke has sat on his hands while the reef is ruined
Tony Burke has known for years the Great Barrier Reef is in danger of being removed from the World Heritage List. Yet he continues to allow industrial expansion in the area.
Thought corruption in the ALP deserved a thread of it's own there's so much of it.
Why? Because the corruption hasn't been adequately covered in the other 20 Labor bashing threads? or perhaps for your own deluded egotistical purposes?
What would make more sense to me is a thread simply entitled "Corruption in Australia".
I don't have the impression it's confined to any political party, but rather is rife across Australian society, viz just the latest revelations re sport.
I started thinking about the potential of competitiveness to invite corruption, but discarded that as sufficient reason when I thought about Craig Thomson, Eddie Obeid et al where there seems to be no competitiveness involved and simply a desire for self gratification and personal profit.
Where does this phenomenon come from? Aren't most people able to do OK via honest effort?
What is the driving force that impels people to involve themselves in corrupt and criminal activities?
Is there a lack of national moral compass, a sense of everyday ethics?
Is the behaviour of politicians, with their utter self interest rather than the best interests of the country, one of the examples which prompt ordinary people to sacrifice their integrity?
Many more similar questions.
I'd be interested in the thoughts of others on this.
PS Any country which holds an outlaw in high esteem seems odd to me.

Those are excellent questions, Julia.
I thought the media could have been a factor where maybe we are hearing alot more today, bringing it out in the open, and wheeling and dealing has been going on for years.
I wouldnt say its just in Australia, as corruption is a worldwide problem, sadly, but yes, greed is one of the big factors in all this.

Yep thats the case just life on the forum if you try to open a negative thread on the antics of Abbott unfortunately you get moderated but thats life I guess.
What do you expect from a stock market forum? (Check out the poll for Labor or Coalition)
We are just trying to have a good time in the midst of this most depressing government.

That's very true. All my posts in support of Ms Gillard have apparently been deleted.:axt:
