All Ords stock?

Hi all,

Newbie question alert!

I'm interested in buying a stock that represents the general movement of the entire ASX. Is there such a thing?

So for example, if I'm tipping that the All Ords will increase a certain percentage over the next month - is there a stock I can buy that is a pretty close match?

Hopefully there is, and I'm looking to by options, not shares.

I see there is an "ASX" stock, but it appears that this is not really related to the overall movement of the entire aussie stock market... its just the actual ASX company.

Thanks!
Jayden

Hi Jayden,

Are you looking at a stocks or options ?. STW ( ASX200 Exchange traded fund) follows the ASX200 , XJO are the ASX200 index options.

I note your a newbie but are looking at options, just be careful but i guess if you're buying only you can't do too much damage, check out the options threads for additional info.

Thanks for the reply cutz. So it seems that XJO is the way to go for options.

I've had a bit of a break from trading. Used to trade options a few years back for a hobby, but now getting back in to it...

Yeah don't go selling them unless you know the full risks.
Who are you trading with?

I was buying, and then selling within a few days... max 1 week. I was with Sanford Securities, but they've since been gobbled up by CommSec, so I guess I'll be with them now, unless you guys can recommend a better company for trading options?
