Adelaide Suburbs

We never go to Glenelg beach - too many high rises, appartments etc. I think only tourists go there! For excellent beaches we go to the Henley Beach area, through to Grange, or Brighton beach and further south. Sellicks Beach is just beautiful.

Henley beach area is magnificent, that whole coastline - 15 mins from the city. I remember coming back with the girlfriend from a holiday in Queensland, every day was windy, beaches were only OK...... the day we came back we went down to Henley for dinner, perfect temp, no clouds, red sun setting on the glassy water, it was the most picturesque sight of the whole holiday.

As far as Adelaide housing goes. IMO overpriced like the rest of the country... but it is still relatively cheap. Plenty of palces within 8k of the city for around 300-350k

Around Henley and Grange is definitely nice. Henley's underrated IMO, well all the yuppies are still buying in North Adel and Norwood etc.

I don't go much on eastern suburbs... I like the inner-city Western suburbs (i.e. from Croydon down to Richmond and within). Still cheap but they won't be for long - that is, relative to the yuppy suburbs.

still have fond memories of Adelaide you guys reckon its a bit under-rated? I was browsing thru relaestate.com and some units/town houses are still quite reasonable (relatively speaking) especially in the city.

In PErth, we have the mining. In Syd and Melb, I think they have the financial institutions/sectors. for those living there, what main industry supports SA especially Adelaide? I remembr overseas frens picked Adelaide universities cos of Adelaide's low cost of living. I picked Adel cos its nice and quiet (well, that was like years ago though).

I'm actually thinking of buying a IP.

thanks in advance.

ps: for those who like asian food, the best vietnamese food is in Adelaide!

the advertisers front page today is about the $6bn airwar destroyer ships that are being built in adeliade,10yrs work at least. also mining is gathering momentum in SA as well. skilled people will be in short supply here

Best beachside suburb in adelaide is somerton park (actually best suburb period) , if i was ever to move back to adelaide its the only place id live . Used to live on eton road 3 houses back from esplanade . what a great spot , easy walk down to the bay to have a beer and a feed yet pretty quiet beach if you stayed close to home
