As I approach this milestone, I must reflect on what I have achieved and on what ASF brings to an investing community beset by bad advice, charlatans and ne'er do wells.

1. Firstly an admission, I initially posted in a vain attempt to win "The Competition", good marketing by Joe Blow. i still have not won it .

2. It has given me more insight in to market action and risk and placement of trades than any book could ever have done.

3. It allows me to express my angst against an unfair world, as I see it, and remain calm in the rest of my dealings with humanity.

4. I have proffered my identity to only one poster, who has respected that. A sign of the maturity of all posters.

5. I have made many friends online, whose joys, sadness, wins and defeats I have shared.

6. It has confirmed my view that financial advisers as a class are defunct, and that FA should be taught from G3 in Primary School, approximately the age of 8.

7. It has helped me respect difference even from Balmain bloody basket weaving greens.

I thought I was the only one that joined for that reason! ...btw I was runner up on first and only attempt :

Well done GG. I always enjoy what you have to say, to another 5000 :bier:

And I will respect your anonymity to the grave. Keep posting GG

Congratulations on the milestone, gg.

For every single benefit you may have experienced on ASF, I reckon you have contributed ten fold in terms of insightful comment, but most of all a delicious sense of humour.

Many is the time I've laughed out loud at one of your cynical observations.

May you keep it up for ever.

Congrats GG, I admire your foresight, determination and perception.
BTW ****ing Manny's place did sell before auction.
Housewarming ?

I will turn it in to a monument for failed financial schemes.

A Disneyland of Investerotica.

At the gate shall be the CFD Spruikers.

By the pool the Options Gurus.

On the verandas Financial Advisers by the hundred.

By the Greek Curtains ( quiet spew) Futures.

It will be an Investors' Mecca, replete with Saudi lenders and Pakistani arbitrageurs.

All will be happy in the land of the blind.

A fitting theme for my 5000th post

Storm Financial

If you have enough front, and borrow more than the banks can tolerate to call in, you are ok, otherwise you are stuffed.

Congrats on your 5000 posts BTW ! Well done.

Congratulations on the 5000 post milestone GG!

Over the years you have become ASF's unofficial editorialist, but perhaps your greatest act of foresight was starting the Storm Financial thread a couple of months before the company collapsed. The thread shot to the first page of the Google search results for "Storm Financial" making ASF the place to go for investors who had lost the lot, Storm Financial apologists and curious onlookers. It is still probably the most comprehensive resource on the web documenting the whole sorry saga from the beginning to the present day. Solly also deserves a lot of credit for his contributions to the thread.

Here's to your next 5000 posts!

Thanks Joe,

Solly is a legend.
