Hi all
I am a new member and this is my first post:)

I believe mostly everyone here will agree that we are going through very uncertain financial time - uncertainty of euro zone, unstability of Chinese economy and the list will go on..
In such time we can not ignore the possibilities of another GFC in near future.:(

In that case I would like to make a list of the shares/companies whose business were robust but share price dropped significantly ( 30-40%) during 2008 GFC. And because the business was robust, the share climb back again to the same level within 8-10 months. For example monadelpheous;from $16 it dropped to $6 within approx 3 months and climbed back to $16 within approx 9 months.
let's make list of such shares (ASX 200 companies) who dropped and climed fast- we may follow such shares and may book nice profit in bad times(if comes :()

Please share your views and suggest the shares which affected significantly due to recession only for short time before they maintained their original level.

Thanks in advance

i think the premise is flawed....non mining stocks that had a 100% turn around, trading at pre GFC levels in 2010 or 11 are very thin on the ground....lots of gold miners hit new highs in 2011/12.

I hold 1 (non mining) micro cap that hit a new all time high in Dec of 2009 and has since added another 20% :)

I wouldn't think the ASX 200 is the place to be looking for them either.

Do you realise how big of a part the Chinese 4 Trillion RMB stimulus played in the global - and especially our economic recovery? Are you aware of all the problems that has created within the Chinese economy, and do you believe the Chinese government will ever attempt anything like it?

Do you believe the Australian government is in a position to engage in any form of stimulus?

What makes you think any looming economic crisis will be as easily or at all recovered from as the GFC?

Are you aware of what has delayed the violent bursting of the Australian housing bubble?

Do you know what has happened to US bank share prices since the GFC? Let me give you a hint.
