thought i might start a thread considering it is the opening ceremony tonight !

anyhow, whats everyone's favorite events they are looking forward to?

i will be glued to channel 7 watching most events but quiet enjoy:

javelin, diving, swimming and rowing


go aussies!!
 
I think it is more a case of listing the sports I dont like to watch.....

tennis (never consider this an olympic sport)
Badminton
hockey (sorry ollyroos)
I hated softball when it was included

Umm, there are probably a few others!

oh yeah, grecco-roman wrestling......

We went to Beach Volleyball in Sydney (my partner was part of team managment for four Olympic games so he has had some amazing Olympic experiences) and we thought it would be just plain stupid - but it was the best! We also had tickets to cycling, athletics and swimming finals (100 metre dash!) Oh yeah, and we were allowed into the Athletes Village:D

Volleyball(the real thing, not the weekend fun at the beach kind), basketball, football and handball.

Doesn't look like I'll get to watch much of channel 7's coverage. Thank god for SBS:)
 
There arent many sports in the Olympics that interest me at all (maybe 100m sprint & weighlifting). Drug-cheating is rife in elite level sport, its just too easy to get away with, the general public has no idea how bad it is (look out for a movie coming out called "Bigger, Stronger, Faster").

I look forward to the closing ceremony (not the opening), because I know its all over and I can go back to watching my regular TV programs (not that I watch that much TV). Luckily I have a copy of the 2nd season of Dexter to get me through the next few weeks.

Are you suggesting there is no drug use in weightlifting? Coz that would be a little, um, naiive!:eek:

No, where did I say that? I just said that the 100m sprint and weightlifting are the only sports in the Olympics that interest me. :confused:
 
You didnt explicitly say it Gav, but you went from saying nothing much interested you except weightlifting and 100m sprint, then straight onto talking about drug use. Segue I guess.
 
Sorry if my post didnt make sense, I guess I should have started a new paragraph before I went on about the drug use. Dont expect too many ppl to test positive though, its too easy to get away with...
 
God damn I hate swimming.

Just face it, if Aussies weren't winning, no-one would give a toss.

I like most olympic sports, watch the golden leagues when I can. Love weightlifting.

The paralympic weightlifting is awesome though. 300+kg bench is pretty awesome stuff...

Oh yeah, and check out the favourite for the women's high jump. She is a bit of stunner and has some nudie pics. ;)

A little bit of testosterone before bed is what a sports doc told me here.

Doesn't show up apparently.

But yes, in certain exercise cycles, it wont either...

There are many ways you can get away with it. Some injectables are out of your system within a couple of months, orals just a couple of weeks, smaller cycles even less (like just before bed to aid recovery, like u mentioned). Even growth hormones are out of your system in 48hrs.
