Missed last year (possibly year before). Better have something in.
Couple specialty retail, couple construction.

Will post in threads...thanks and have a great year all!
Yeah, 15% considered huge in that industry.
When I worked in an area that required food industry knowledge, I was taught the (classic, I found out) 30/30/30/10 rule (expense-profit model) in the restaurant industry.
30% COGS, 30% wage costs, 30% other operating costs...10% Net profit. Tough...
Could sleep last night, watched RK do his well publicised first live YouTube stream in 3 years (apparently - I never followed the GameStop saga then).
What a volatile stock. Several halts and a 40% decline. I'm sure his fans were hoping for the opposite.
Was a weird / boring live feed.
He's...
Darn, I missed this year. 9,003 would have been my go. Nothing more than (a) I'm always bullish, (b) picked 15% return for the year to be a bit more conservative than prior year 20% lol.
It'll be interesting, as always, to see what happens for the remainder of year.
Just curious more than anything. How many who trade individual stocks internationally, do so on non-US stocks also?
Was just going to post the thread but thought I'd make it a poll.
Feel free to elaborate (including favourite broker)
@finicky I feel like I'm following you, lol, but been looking at specialty retail today (only because Joyce Corp came up on my radar, and then had a look at MHJ and SSV).
Yeah, similar to MHJ, sentiment not great - I'd still consider it bottom feeding, as you say.
I'd go more like $1.40 than...
@finicky interesting one. Had a brief trade end of '21. Went up and back down, was a break even trade... hasn't hit my radar since.
Sentiment is obviously not there, I couldn't get in now but I do agree with you, it looks cheap and has some other qualities. If you don't mind waiting for the...
Well done you guys for getting in and holding in there so long. I look at a lot of untraded systems and Joyce has consistently appeared in many of them over the years. It flags very well to this day.
I note that it's been the best 10 year performer in the specialty retail sector, doubling the...
Japan for a long time now has been known as a value investors market. I have heard that unlocking that value has been a challenge.
I read that Buffett went with the conglomerates due to his need for size. There's heaps of smaller caps (still large) that seem to be cheap.
My preference would...
…I like the way he says it’s stupid. He’s like, ‘what would I do with it? It doesn’t do anything. I guess I could go down to the vault and look at how shiny it is’ - something like that 😂
I learned early on as a young fella (from a book by David Dreman) that really, all I needed was equities...
I’m not a property person. But, I came to appreciate:
Most Australians (2 out of 3) will be using a part pension.
Owning a home has been, currently is, and probably will be(?) favourably treated in retirement, in Australia.
There’s even a window of asset level where you’re better off having...
I forgot the reason I checked into this thread and got myself sidetracked! Oh, well!
So, here it is, a question (definitely not a trick one!):
Apparently, according to one website that collates such things, FMG is a strong sell on broker consensus. If that’s wrong, forget this question...
