The future of energy generation and storage

From a technical and economic point of view I'm sure your argument iare sound, but there is the individual vs big business argument and the desire for households to be independent (or so they think) of the greedy corpoations. No public discussion has ever been held to my knowledge of the points...

No, it's not our money anymore

I suppose its the nanny state again. People have sued banks for failing to protect them from their own mistakes so there could be another side to the story.

No, it's not our money anymore

Wasn't there legislation saying you can't fake out more than $20k at a time?

No, it's not our money anymore

Hmmm. OK, I'll believe him, but I wouldn't put it past Garbage Broadcasting to set such things up.

The future of energy generation and storage

The Western Green Energy Hub would build 3000 wind turbines and six million solar panels in WA to power production of hydrogen and ammonia, mostly for export, though potentially leaving some for local use. We are second class citizens in our own country again. That must be how it feels to be...

The future of energy generation and storage

Nothing stopping us from putting an export tax on all gas exported and using that to pay for imports if we need to.

The future of energy generation and storage

I get what you are saying, but home solar is already causing problems for the grid. It's lack of planning and no coordinated approach again so it's a big fail by the politicians.

The future of energy generation and storage

So does that mean that home solar systems are a threat to the economics and engineering of the grid and should be discouraged?

    Impact of a Labor/Greens/Teal parliament

    Too trivial to comment on.

The future of energy generation and storage

I certainly agree that power grids should not be designed by environmentalists, economists or politicians, but by genuinely technology agnostic engineers. Are there such people ? A few may be on this forum. ;) But as we know some of our politicians have been taken over by climate hype or...

The future of energy generation and storage

Are micro grids viable, ie rooftop solar, community batteries rather than n the "big grid" ? Would save a lot in rewiring I would think? Long periods of inclement weather would be the issue, so maybe you have community diesel gensets haha.

The future of energy generation and storage

Because the politicians have no idea of the engineering realities and are locked in by their own ideologies?

The future of energy generation and storage

I wouldn't write off nuclear forever. All technology improves over time and there may come a time where it's appropriate for us. With our small population at the moment, nuclear doesn't make much sense economically, if we get to 50 million it may get more cost effective. Of course, other...

The future of energy generation and storage

If it's necessary and private enterprise won't do it, then governments have to.

The future of energy generation and storage

To a non engineer like me this is a ridiculous situation, having "too much energy" at particular times. It indicates a lack of planning to construct appropriate storage along with generation capacity. OK, hydro takes years to build, but batteries don't usually, so where is the investment in...
