If you have over $50k then there are no trading fees and you will be dealing directly with our Treasury dealers at spot (not talking coins here, mean the Depository Program). However it is not a day trading facility, more suited to medium to longer term investors.
If you are looking for day...
Not sure what you mean by dirty and inconsistent - it is just raw data in a csv format which is as universal a format we can offer and which should be readable by most programs. We are currently in the process of redoing our website and I'll be adding in some online charts for the data and if we...
Download free data on silver AUD prices since 1975 here http://www.perthmint.com.au/investment_invest_in_gold_precious_metal_prices.aspx
AUD metal prices can be significantly impacted by our exchange rate, with periods where USD price moves are muted by opposing changes in AUD/USD and other...
I work at the Perth Mint so you can consider this conflicted advice, but the Perth Mint's Depository Program is easy to trade, safe (Govt Guaranteed) and low fees.
Am I included in this, seeing as I work for Perth Mint which is WA Government owned? But then again, we go around helping people buy gold
And re the buy/sell spreads, they are that wide primarily because we sit at recommended retail premiums on the sell side as we don't want to...
To $32,659 on 16 Jan 2015
See Elliott Wave analysis chart here http://www.sharelynx.com/chartstemp/GoldeWave.php
Not being an Elliott wave expert, not sure where the fifth wave extension of fifth wave extension comes from, but I'm not arguing with the conclusion.
I agree with Mr Z, first step is just to put special tax on gold mine production, then mandate sale of mine gold to Govt and/or nationalisation. The amount of gold we sell domestically vs export is small and thus my view is that there just isn't any significant amount of privately held gold in...
Re confiscation, the Govt can't actually do it as it stands now, they have to have the dormant Part 4 of the Banking Act reactivated, but that probably won't take long to do.
On the ID issue, note that only cash purchases above $10,000 or suspicous transactions (which would include obvious...
It starts at Section 41 in Part 4, see my blog post on it and discussion of its implications http://goldchat.blogspot.com/2008/11/australian-gold-confiscation.html
My view is silver is not explicitly mentioned and I do not think it will be confiscated as the reason Govt wants gold is to use...
1 tonne gold coin
Excuse me for gloating that Perth Mint just blew the Canadian Mint's "biggest gold coin" record out of the water http://www.1tonnegoldcoin.com/, theirs was only 100kg.
I'm not sure what the coin premium is if you want to buy it. 5% on $53 million metal value = $2,650,000
Re: SILVER
I am not saying not to buy. I am saying don't base your decision on the fact that ebay prices are much higher than "spot".
What I am saying is why pay big premiums on ebay when you can lock in normal premiums and current spot price from Perth Mint and we deliver later. That is...
Re: SILVER
My post was not saying that there isn't strong demand, we have said there is on our corporate blog. We wouldn't be consolidating coin production to a few sizes if there weren't many buyers around. It is a good indicator of a strong market, but don't rely on it.
My point is...
Re: SILVER
Here I am, popping up. :) Just this week we shipped in 20 tonnes (643,015oz) of 1000oz silver bars (with more coming). We are selling that physical at the "paper" price. It is laughable to think that the prices on ebay represent the "real" price, or that the volume of oz sold on...
See http://law.ato.gov.au/pdf/pbr/gstr2003-010.pdf for the rules on GST and precious metals.
If the item is internationally traded with a recognised mark and purity >= 99.5% then the whole value it is input taxed (0% GST) otherwise 10% GST applies on the whole value.
Size wise gold valued at less than $50k is so small it can be easily hidden. This does not suit everyone of course. FYI about 85% of the Perth Mint's Depository clients go with unallocated, the rest allocated, but given how much physical metal we sell, there would also have to be a fair number...
