Australian of the Year 2011

I nominate myself, i always seem to get overlooked at these sort of awards

I nominate Johnny Farnham again.

Other nominations are far too worthy.

I nominate Alan Joyce as Australian of the Year 2011 for his stance on union thuggery.
+1 on that. MVP for Australia in 2011. He actually showed leadership.

Prawn you did perform strongly, but Joyce edged you out.

Noel Pearson and Bess Price for their ongoing determination to break the destructive culture of violence and welfare dependency amongst aboriginal people.

This determination despite the inner city affluent Left Luvvies being equally intent on continuing to label all aboriginal people as victims, a label they will accept unless provided with an alternative of taking responsibility for moving forward.

PS And a special sympathy nomination for Tim Mathieson for the humiliation the poor bugger must have felt watching his partner, Gillard, apparently unable to stop pawing Obama during his time here. So embarrassing.:(

O.K if we are going to be serious, Alan Carpenter(WA Premier) for trying to bring parliamentarians superannuation benefits in line with everybody elses. By the way it didn't happen. :D

I nominate any sporting hero as they get no recognition in Australia unlike those scientists, doctors and bloody volunteers.

Shane Warne would probably be at the top of my list.

I can only hope this is tongue in cheek! Australia is a nation which offers ridiculous levels of adulation to sports people, usually at the expense of scientists, doctors etc.

Julia :
Don't think you would get much pawning Obama USA is bankrupt
Glen: I said "pawing", not "pawning". She couldn't keep her hands off him.

True, and probably feelers are out there already from party officials for Black Caviar to run for public office. Of course we'd need to know where the horse stands on policy, such as the carbon tax, MRRT, the Qantas dispute etc.

In office, Black Caviar could be trusted not to run her hooves all over the President.

...any Tom, Dick or Harry will do... or even a Jones... Milton Jones. :D
