Gaddafi's Death - Not a war Crime

Bottom line is Gadaffi's gone... the quagmire of rule by occupation forces is a lesson finally learnt... and the challenge now will be for the interim government to satisfy factional squabbles and lead to fair and democratic elections well before the deadline they nominated to demonstrate good faith to the general population.

And pigs might fly.

You would have to agree though that it was a bit shortsighted to kill him before finding where he secreted the money he embezzled.

No, 'might'... they do... although not in this campaign. :p:

But seriously, I remain optimistic for Libya. I've seen many calls amongst the rebel leaders for better behavior than just revenge and tit for tat retaliation for crimes by Gadaffi and his followers.

Yeah, ideally it would have been good to put him through the ritual of a trial... but I doubt they would have learn't much more about where he deposited the country's wealth without committing more 'war crimes', eg by torture.

As for the Libian people concerned, I think they're feeling a future with the end of Gadaffi is far more precious than any amount of wealth he may have been able to keep hidden. Small change in the total scheme of things and their future.

I have no objection to them killing him, but it should have been done in the heat of battle and not when captured and their depravity displayed for all the world to see.
