Earlier this year I attended the Unleash the Power Within Conference (Tony Robbins) and then went to the National Achiever Congress last month in Sydney.

I wanted to know if anyone knows of any upcoming conferences/seminars? I know Harv Eker was/is this month? Just wondering if there are any others (can be specific to trading also).

I know these threads can deteriorate rather quicly, so I am not here to debate the merit of these events but rather to find out which ones are happening.

Thanks :)

Meatloaf is playing a concert in Adelaide tonight if that's any help?

I stuck "motivational seminars Australia" into Google and got quite a few results. Seems there is usually something or other not too far away?

What about this dude too - FX seminar:

Sydney (8th & 9th November 2011)
Melbourne (11th & 12th November 2011)

hahaha I shouldn't have expected anything less.

There are very few siminars that I find truly valuable tbh. Good experiences every now and then for a bit of a motivational boost.

There's a huge problem with almost all self-development books and courses etc, and it goes unnoticed.

The very moment you try to improve something about yourself, you're reinforcing the belief that there's something wrong to begin with. This then automatically eats away at your self esteem, thereby aggravating the original condition. It feeds on itself in a loop. The worse your confidence, the more courses you need to attend, and so on.

pavillion, I've noticed you're a great student. You've gathered lots of new info since you started. But are you sure you're not stuck in Studyland? Are you making actual trades?

Barbara Ehrenreich: The Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America
The author talks about how a plague of positive thinking is permeating our society, from medicine to business, and is even contributing to our financial crisis.

EW: You write that the alternative to positive thinking isn't despair. What do you see as the alternative?

BE: How about a little realism? How about not seeing the world so totally colored by our own wishes and emotions? For the positive thinker, that means everything looks rosy and everything is going to be all right no matter what, so you have to block out the little warning signs.

For the very depressed person, you're just convinced that everything is going to be miserable, that you're not going to enjoy anything you undertake, that you're going to fail at everything.

There, too, you're just projecting things. It's extremely hard to "see things as they are." It's a project -- we have to consult other people, we get other views, we sometimes have to question other people's views, but that's the only way to proceed, and that's how our species has survived as long as it has.

What do you see as the alternative , Motorway:) ?

MW: How about a little realism and AWARENESS and ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. NOT filling the head with " You can do it" and "RELAX" ....But just being aware of what is and DOING SOMETHING .. And again..

The viable alternative to self-building is self-acceptance, or even better (though far harder), self-destruction. By self-destruction, I mean realizing that the very notion of 'self' is false in the first place... an illusion. This body that is typing these words needs no 'owner' or 'operator'. It's just doing it's thing and through some amazing trick of the mind, it ends up being 'me' that's doing it. I've only had momentary glimpses of that quality of experience. On the other hand I've had a belly full of Robbins style stuff and it made me sick!

Try this.

I play this every time I have a winning trade.

The market is a bit of a "dog" at the moment, how about Cesar Millan? He's coming to Adelaide too :)
He's actually a terrific dog trainer, or more accurately he's able to explain to dog owners how they are failing their dogs.

I agree. The 'self help' industry is huge and preys on the vulnerable.

Those Pollyanna types who are determined to quite unrealistically 'see what's positive' in every situation are a plague imo.

One of the worst examples of it is when a kid gets a fatal disease they say to the parents piously "God never sends you anything you can't handle".

I agree, in fact there's a lot more to his "philosophy" than just dog training. I've never been to a self-help seminar/trading event etc. but I'm looking forward to seeing Cesar in November. A lot more worthwhile than any "personal development" seminar IMHO :)

I'd love to be close enough to go to see him. He has saved hundreds of dogs from being euthanased simply by showing their owners how to handle them.

Could you report back after you've been, Captain Black?

One of my girl friends father was Boxer Mother was ****zu thought breeding and calling them Bull****z
