All that (and Animal Farm) is some pretty chronic propaganda. None of the countries you mentioned have any semblance of equality nor fairness - and they certainly don't have anything to do with communism, nor even socialism.
There is nothing wrong with mining companies nor miners, they simply need to pay their fair share. And people working in mining get paid far far far too much (just another sign of the fact that the industry is too profitable).
Cuba isn't?
You might want to tell China it is not run by the Communist Party of China (CPC) while you are at it.
Just as an aside the SCM ..... how much do YOU get paid then? But but but I am university trained with a degree. So my mates who are boilermaker welders and geologists that work on the mines are inferior to your level of income projections and are overpaid for what they do?
You could say it's close I guess. Coincidentally, they have very good healthcare and grow stuff everywhere. How cool is that?
But even so, you can't really call any country where one guy has been in charge for so long anything other than a dictatorship.
Supply and demand...Teachers and Doctors
Scientists and Engineers
If there is no reward for effort then everyone takes the easy path and we end up with a shortage of highly skilled workers. Witness the shortage of doctors right now - that's what happens in a socialised system which under pays and over services.
Price is one means of matching supply and demand and that is what capitalism does. The other means is rationing and that is what socialism does. Note the huge shortages of doctors, child care and just about every other socialised service in this country versus the plentiful supply (at a price) of things which operate under a capitalist model.
