We often hear of corrupt, dishonest or dishonourable politicians who make fools of themselves and bring their party into disrepute.
Yet in many cases these grubs are retained by their party, and sometimes even promoted to higher office and/or higher paying jobs.

You can name and shame them in this thread - no political party spared, it's open slather on any politician who behaves like a boofhead, regardless of what side of politics he or she is on.

I'll start the ball rolling with that sleazy little ALP grub Mike Kaiser who was busted for electoral fraud and vote rigging in Labor party ballots.
But did the ALP turf him out? - hell no! After a brief period of lying low to let the dust settle, Kaiser was appointed to a high paying job by the ALP.
Anna Bligh appears to think the sun shines out of the bloke.

Troy Buswell - boofhead - they deserve all the stick they get in retaining Troy for as long as they did and how they did.

It has to be Tony Abbot for wearing budgie smugglers on an on-going basis.

Otherwise Rann of SA for the unseemly mess with the married American lass.

Belinda "don't you know who I am" Neal. Fortunately, she has now been deselected and will not be standing at the next election.

Kevin Rudd for his dummy spit at a flight attendant as his meal was not available

Steve Fielding for believing the earth is less than 5,000 years old

Barnaby Joyce for being, well, Barnaby Joyce

Cheryl Kernot.
Fortunately she's long gone from politics, but what a liability she proved to be for the ALP while she graced their ranks.
Labor crowed like drunken roosters when they talked her into defecting from the Australian Democrats to the ALP. The way they carried on, you almost got the impression that she was the messiah who was going to lead the ALP to the promised land.
They quickly found out that she was going to fall well short of their expectations. Not only was she a bit of a washout as a politician, but she topped it all off by having a well publicised affair with the ALP's bearded buffoon, Gareth Evans.
I've never met Cheryl Kernot - she may be a nice person despite her indiscretions and adultery, but she sure did make both herself and the ALP look pretty damn foolish.

What's annoying is all the taxpayer-funded entitlements that politicians (even the boofheads) get after they retire from politics.

Does this thread only relate to "current" politicians? Or can we rake up the muck from the past? If it is the latter than Mark Latham is high on my list of "boofheads" ! I loved the way he imploded wth such dignity and humility? Te he !!

In relation to Troy Buswell (WA state treasurer, Coalition government) it does appear that the state premier is going to ask young Tory to bend over facing the door and crawl out. Failing the request to crawl, he will have his right boot polished and ready to send him out the door airborne.

Troy Buswell has chosen to crawl.

If we are going to dig up the past, Sir Joh (for PM) would have to near the top of the list (sorry gg, I know he's a hero up there).

And I thought that Anna Bligh thought that she was the only one that the sun shone from. (closely followed by the NSW premier that makes every possible effort to have the sun shining from her.)

Couldn't resist this one - KEVIN RUDD wins backflip contest by a country mile - screams the headline. 3 policy backflips in 3 days. BOOFHEAD IMO !

What are ya talkin' about?

They're all bloody boofheads.

LOL @ trainspotter. The old Latham days eh?

I'd hardly call Gareth Evans a buffoon. Certainly he showed poor judgement in the affair with Cheryl Kernot, but his political career has been pretty first rate.

After leaving Australian politics, he was President of the International Crisis Group from 2000 - 2009, he is currently Co-Chair of the International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, and is Chancellor of the ANU.

In interviews, he is thoughtful and intelligent. Imo he represents a loss to the Australian political scene.

Not to mention Pauline Hanson - even the New Zealand Immigration people got into the act - she was deliciously embarrassed when entering New Zealand the other day by Immigration taking her aside to an interview room where she was asked to justify her admission into NZ considering her prison record.

We have a guy up here who is not only a boofhead, but he looks like a boofhead...Qld health minister, Paul Lucas.

Politicians from any era are fair game if they behaved like boofheads!

Yeh - Mark Latham was a classic wasn't he! Such arrogance and aggression and insulting language towards the opposition before he became leader, then as leader he realised that he'd better moderate his fire-breathing approach if he was to curry favour with voters.

Before long the once arrogant and aggressive Latham was humbled, rejected by his own party, and sent limping away with his tail between his legs.
It couldn't have happened to a more deserving feller!
