Hi everyone

I thought I would start this thread as a place for people to get stuff off their chest.

It's open to anyone who wants to verbally slam any political party or party members that they don't like. It could be ALP, Libs, Greens, Demos or Indies etc..

All posts should be partial and vigorous in how they slay out the party in question.

Posts involving balanced commentary on the good/bad, pro's/cons, ads/disads on policy matters are to be discouraged on this thread.

Let it rip right here! :D
 
Level of immigration is stupid; we are heading for 1,000,000 unemployed.

But what my voice is worth?
And what getting it off my chest is going to achieve?

Waste of time, when politicians are democratically elected to do what they please.
 
I don't see any practical way to get better politicians and the ones we have now are not very entertaining. I'd like them to exaggerate their characters or wear fancy dress so we can at least get a show for our money: Costello with a little Hitler moustache and salute, Hockey dressed as Mussolini, Rudd as Nero with his little golden crown and fiddle. It would be worth watching question time.
 
First party that wishes to double military spending, raise taxes by 10%, scrap the dole and increase the old age pension will get my vote...

EDIT: I know that'll push business offshore and smash the share market... :p
 
What should really happen is:

1. Cut all middle class welfare. Welfare should only exist for the disabled, long term unemployed and the elderly. The should be no baby bonus, no hand outs, etc.

2. From the savagely cut income taxes. Therefore most people are not worse off. What they lose in welfare they pick up in tax cuts.

3. Abolish the states and councils. Then replace them with regional bodies (supa councils) that over look planning, local roads, garbage collection etc. There will be less of them (as opposed to the number of councils previously) and they will be more efficient. This will save even more money.

4. Once you have control of the states abolish all inefficient taxes eg stamp duty on property, payroll tax and other taxes which effect the efficient operation of the market.

If the dole were to be scrapped, how are the unemployed going to survive?
(that is, if they are even managing to survive on the current low rate).

Perfectly decent hard working Australians are losing their jobs through no fault of their own, and despite having an excellent work ethic.

Have to agree with Julia.
Imagine the crime rate without the dole !

As for immigration , only the self funded & those who will be an asset should now be considered , stuff the gate crashers ..

Forced military service for the unemployed, they slot in wherever their capabilities can get them...

Your idea has merit but the cost of trying to train up all the long term bludgers would be astronomical , maybe force them to pick fruit or some other form of useful manual work .
Not talking about those who have lost there jobs ~ caused by the present economical situation.

The military doesn't want the added burden of training up the unemployed.

There will always be a section of the community that refuses to work for a living but by forcing them into the military I don't think would fix the problem, they would probably just claim a medical exemption anyway.

Australia is a rich country and can afford the welfare that it doles out. I can assure you that it much better having welfare that people can access than the alternatives which is what you get in the 3rd World and developing countries. I am currently living in Brazil and it has a very high violent crime rate and yes there is no social welfare in this country. I would do what every it takes also to feed my family.
 
Living out here - we don't mix with the locals in town.

9am 3 pubs are open and they are pretty full by 10am with the town crowd. No surprise the highest crime is domestic abuse followed by theft third is traffic infrigements.

Dedicated farmers are lovely people and work hard, no time for frivolties.

My daugther asked one of the boys what he was doing after class, he told her he "was getting wasted at the pub nothing else to do". She was pretty horrified.

I wonder if they banned all alcohol and sobbered up if they would go and seek work. Probably not.
 
Bring back the compulsory service for the unemployed!!!! If they can't get a job because they are undertrained or too slack to get off their A R S E to find a job then maybe they need the discipline!!!!:shoot: Increase the military funding and the military will then be willing to train them (the ones with brains anyway), all others can just do basic training - always need some canon fodder on the frontline...:bigun2: And they should bring back corporal punishment for deserters...:behead:

If they claim the "i'm so sick, I can't go into the military" regime then they would be eligible for a disability pension. If people were that sick then there would either be visible signs or have proof from relevant recognised authorities.:swear:

This country is headed for a more Republic Federalist/Socialist state anyway so why not speed it up and amalgamate all government departments into national oversight through marginal management on key protectorates. Retain the separation of the government and the courts to have a secondary oversight through judicial inquiry.

Limits on Credit Cards could reduce the human need for instant gratification, sex, sex, sells few understand work and the future.

Agreed, or are drug users.... So much for stimulating the economy, think i'll go off and stimulate myself:D Usually young mothers only look at the short term and not the big picture, eg "great i'm going to get $5,000 for this kid"!!!, but that is only going to last for X number of months? How will you support them for the next 17 odd years?

Can't really comment on this as I use the credit card for my kids expenses, but i see your point. Credit should not be as readily available as it is. I remember when i was at uni and i was offered a $10,000 credit card on an annual income of $15,000 and I could fit all my assets into one share accommodation room.

Go figure.....:cool:

there's also a well known minority group who actually marry there cousins so they can become Australia citizens, not sure if the Immi dept has cracked down on them, no stopping this practice.

cut the level yes, but you can't link the two, if you have quick look at the dole queue the majority are actually your so called traditional Australians taking advantage of the system.
