I'm presuming a few of you might have watched KRudd on the ABC's special Q & A program from the old Parliament House last night? I wonder what you all thought of his performance?

Personally, I felt he gave a very insipid and un-inspiring performance in front of a studio audience of 16-25 year olds. I don't think one of the questioners actually praised Mr Rudd or his government during the whole hour.

Essentially, most of the young audience seemed concerned that Mr Rudd had made many promises at the last election that had not yet been acted upon in reality, but had instead been hand-balled to numerous committees for further discussion.

Mr Rudd appeared very uncomfortable for much of the time during the questioning. His dis-comfort at not receiving any praise at all seemed quite palpable. He seemed to be pouting a LOT. I found myself looking away or closing my eyes when he was constantly fumbling for answers - it was that embarrassing. Maybe he was missing his bevy of female members strategically placed behind him that reward him with endless "Yes Prime Minister" noddies during normal Parliamentary broadcasts?

As expected, he resorted to his usual obfuscating media technique when trying to "answer" questions - eg: Waving and pointing his finger with "There are 3 points to this, firstly...secondly..." etc etc etc. Most of the time he forgot the third or fourth point he "firstly" raised (must be getting Alzheimers?)!

I felt he was very condescending towards his young audience and spoke to them as though he was The Headmaster at a school auditorium.

He seemed intent on scoring smart-mouthed "one-ups" on the host Tony Jones in an attempt to dodge his responsibility in answering his young critics. He failed miserably. Only Tony got big cheers.

Unsurprisingly, the audience (especially the older ones) looked totally un-impressed by the end of the program (although they did give him a regulation clap at the end of the show - no doubt encouraged or instructed by ABC "clappers" strategically placed.) .

So, how did I rate his performance last night??

1/10

That 1 point is for having the temerity to turn up at all.

I'd be surprised if 18-25 year olds didn't remember this pathetic performance when it comes to polls in coming months (and the election itself).

When I saw the thread header, thought it was about Kevin's habit of asking questions and answering them himself.

Kevin Rudd "Am I doing a great job of running Australia?"

Kevin Rudd "Yes I am"
:D

A very good, precise summation of last night's KRudd fest.

10/10 gooner...

:D

Flicked over the channel last night for a few minutes. His discomfort was very evident, but my discomfort from watching him at all was even greater. I cannot stand the man, he talks down to people, not an admirable trait of a leader.

Crash and Burn Rudd at the next election and iongrain the legacy of who screwed the country and created a sub prime will always be stained in blood on your hands and in the minds of all Australian for eternity.

Cheers

Peter Beattie was a blackbelt of this technique. Was he good at it? Yes he was.

At the end of the day, the kids caned Kevin on Q&A

The showbiz maxim about never working with children or animals was on full display tonight as our Prime Minister arrived for a chummy yarn with a nice bunch of kids only to endure a torrid pummeling about broken promises, weak leadership and political expediency.

Indeed.

I expect a few more media report cards like this in the coming hours / days.

Irrepairable damage IMO.

Anyone notice how much Gillard has been on TV lately? In quite flattering warm & fuzzy situations too. Almost like she's getting... prepped for some sort of... career shift... but, what kind???

Things that make you go hmmmm.

Ha! You know something?

I'm going to use a well known KRudd tactic of quoting oneself... ;)

Maybe he was missing his bevy of female members strategically placed behind him that reward him with endless "Yes Prime Minister" noddies during normal Parliamentary broadcasts?

After his public humiliation last night, well may he say "God help me!!" under his breath as he now repeatedly casts a tic-ing eye over his shoulder towards his main Lady-in-waiting...

LOL... What a $hit storm!!

:D :D

You know something? I didn't watch it. I thought it would be fixed. In any case he is incapable of answering a question. So why put him on Q&A.

The man says very little of interest, and about 10 seconds watching his pouting petulant little mouth and bobbing little chin is the limit for me. I tend to throw up.

Yes, but I would pay good money to watch him make an air hostess cry.

I didn't see the show, but it sounds like it was quite appropriate that the first thing he did as prime minister was apologise! Then again, they're all about as bad as each other.

Firstly let me say this.

Further to the point in question I have to secondly say that it was very ordinary to say the least.

Thirdly and finally let me say that it made want to PUKE.

Our leader is a complete embarrassment and joke.:eek::vomit:

I've recorded it but haven't watched it yet. It was rubbished quite badly in this morning's political chat between Michelle Grattan of "The Age" and Fran Kelly from ABC Radio National's Breakfast. So even the left and government-supporting ABC wasn't finding anything good to say about it.

This is another reason I think Rudd is going to find this a "challenging" year wink wink. Lefty press wouldn't abandon him like this for Tony Abbott.

Maybe the laborites are nervous about Abbott & think only someone with more testosterone than Rudd & Abbott combined can beat him, aka Ms Gillard?

Not to worry. With a bit of spiff'n spit 'n polish from his army of minders, He will be pumped, primed and ready to extoll His virtues to Mr Obamasan soon enuff.

Hmm. One wonders what the BigO might make of his dear Ruddybuddy's media meltdown just a few sleeps before they exchange gay pleasantries?

:D

I noticed when asked about the Health system, he got pulled up for blaming the previous government twice for pulling $1billion out of the system, while claming the bucks stops with him and he would stop the blame game.

I've always felt that his constant reference to the 'previous' government makes him sound very insecure. He's been in office over two years now. Well and truelly time to stop blaming the previous government.

Strange times!!! When Fran Kelly and Radio National get stuck into Rudd, while over at "The Raving Right Wing" Andrew Bolt is being rather subdued (by his standards) in his comments of Rudd's performance.

There hasn't been too many positive comments written about the program. Watch this space - Rudd might make an exception to appear on Insiders to try and restore some credibility.

I must admit that I thought Q&A would have been a waltz in the park for Rudd. Let's face it - a "one-on-one" with a bunch of left leaning students, no political commentators or panel, being controlled by left leaning Tony Jones, being broadcast by left leaning ABC is hardly a receipe for confrontation or discomfort for Rudd.

I have to ask the question? Perhaps the format, audience, broadcaster and compare were.................objective and impartial!!!! Strange times indeed.

I saw about 5 seconds of it while changing channels last night and it was excruciating.

How could the ALP have a nerd such as this actually leading their party.

We need some biff in the ALP, not this choirmistress.

gg

As I can recall, I havn't actually spoken to anyone who voted for him. I didn't. Must be a post turtle.
